Fore!!!

Last weekend I had lunch at a restaurant on a golf course surrounded by miles of lush green and golfers trying to play in the rain. The chef (a friend of a cousin) offered to take us out on the course for a few rounds of golf. As someone who doesn’t even know how to hold a club, I was excited to try my swing. Unfortunately, he only had right-handed clubs and I’m a lefty. So I’m told, I hold my pen in a funny way. Evident by the laughter on the course, this apparently extends to the way I held the club.

The Significant Other naturally got the ball in the hole several times. Go Figure. (Obviously, I'm the creative one in the family, not the athletic one, or at least that's what I tell myself). I’m happy to add golf to the sports I’ve tried even if I didn’t try all that long, but I'm hanging up my clubs and moving to the next adventure. Why isn’t writing like that?

I’m having a hard time moving to the next project—the one I talked about on the blog two weeks ago. The story idea and outline are ready to go and I’m really sure this is the new the one, but I still haven’t started on those characters sketches.

The world offline is particularly demanding for me right now, but I can’t help but wonder if I’m using being busy as an excuse to not work. I’m trying to figure out if I’m procrastinating or if my brain’s telling me to chill?

Question for the day: How do you know if you’re procrastinating or if your brain’s telling you to chill out?

Oh, I know that feeling. I had the same problem in August. It was this weird, stuttering feeling to starting.
When you're ready, you'll be fine. Maybe this is a sign you need to just chill a little, and see what happens next week.
Good luck!

I really don't know...I just guess most of the time. Usually it's how I physically feel that's a huge clue-in.

...procrastinating can be a sinister fox up to no good if one's not careful. I catch myself procrastinating often...only to realize its true identity...me being lazy:)
And normally that's my cue...life's a short journey...onward:)

Usually after a few days of procrastination, my brain's telling me it's time to get moving. Maybe you just need a little more chill time.

I used to play golf, but now we play maybe once a summer, if that. I don't miss it too much, but it's fun to get out on the course once in a while.

I rarely recognize procrastination until I've loaded my plate so full with everything BUT the writing deadlines. I then crash. Whine to hubby that I NEED to take time to write (because he is somehow standing in my way). And then shift things until I'm back on track. It's a cycle. I should know it - but I have selective memory.

Keeping busy isn't my way of procrastination, it's my way of getting my brain into gear. I need to get EVERYTHING else out of the way first, before I can begin to write. Once my plate is clear, then my brain frees itself up. don't worry, it'll all work out.

PS how's the querying going?

I'm having the same problem with my new project. I just can't move on right now from the old one.

It's going to happen. If it goes on more than a day or 2, then it's time to spend at least 10 minutes working on some form of writing. That might help limber up your writing muscle!

What do you think concerning adding some more pictures? I’m not trying to offend anyone, content is really nice. But as I’ve heard people acquire info much more effective when they see certain useful images.

I'm back in action too, so we can give each other a rough time if we miss deadlines or screw around too much. Oh, and stop screwing around so much!

Justus,
Welcome back! It's been awhile. I hope you've got much done with family life, studies, and work during your time away from the internet.
